Anthony Crum is Dead. Why aren't Khaila and Iris Reunited?

El Cajon, CA (January 12, 2025) – "A devastating collision in El Cajon claimed the life of 41-year-old motorcyclist Anthony Crum."

Accident Details: The accident occurred on Saturday, January 12, 2025, at approximately 4:15 PM on East Main Street near Shady Lane. According to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office and police, Crum was riding his Suzuki motorcycle westbound on East Main Street. His young daughter was a passenger.

A Chevrolet SUV, attempting to make a left turn onto Orlando Street, collided with the motorcycle. Crum was pronounced dead at the scene. His daughter survived the crash. The 37-year-old driver of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

Paramedics took the child to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. She was expected to survive, El Cajon police Lt. Darrin Forster said.

On January 14th after learning that Anthony was killed, Khaila immediately asked the to D.A.  dismiss the charges and was granted an emergency hearing on January 23rd. court and was granted custody of Iris. According to California Family Code 3010 (b) "if one parent is dead, is unable or refuses to take custody, or has abandoned the child, the other parent is entitled to custody of the child." Khaila was granted custody.

It was decided that because there is no legal paperwork saying that Khaila is unfit to parent, she has rightful custody of her daughter.

However when Khaila attempted to get her daughter, she was met with resistance at the Crum compound.

Organizers with the African National Women's Organization (ANWO) accompanied Khaila and encountered the brother of Dale Crum, who refused to provide the whereabouts of Dale or Iris.

Following the instructions from the court, Khaila called the Sheriff to the property. However the Sheriff refused to render any aid. Even when asked if he could do a welfare check on Iris.

Not getting anywhere Khaila, left without learning Iris' whereabouts or her health status. She looks forward to her next hearing in February.
